I recently received this french press by SterlingPro. I have to say, I was extremely excited when it came to my door because I love using a french press. Putting the work and effort into making my own coffee is so rewarding and always ends up tasting fresh and delicious. But I’m sad to say that this french press wasn’t one of my favorites. I’ve used many in the past and I didn’t find this one to be anything very special. Here’s my break down:
Don’t get me wrong, there are a few things that I do like about this french press. Number one, I love how easy it is to keep clean. So far, I’ve only had to rinse with water to get all the coffee grounds out, which is really nice because there is always a worry that they will get stuck, especially around the edges of the filter. Number two, the design is really simple and easy to use. It comes assembled for you, so it’s easy to put it together once you do take it apart for cleaning purposes.
I don’t know if I’m the only one that finds this to be irritating, but I really don’t like how the french press sounds when I am pressing the filter down to the coffee grounds. It almost sounds scratchy and it hurts my ears! Secondly, I don’t like that you can’t actually see the coffee. I much prefer a glass french press. However, those two things don’t change anything about how the coffee actually turns out. So I’m just being a little nit-picky on those things. However, the quality of coffee isn’t that great either. First off, I always end up with grounds in my cup even if I grind the coffee at a normal setting. Secondly, when I pour it, it steams out so unevenly and gets everywhere! Definitely hate having to spend my mornings cleaning up coffee spills on the floor and counters.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this french press, but I do recommend actually getting a french press!
