Lucy’s Vegan & Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

Dakota and I recently went to Target specifically to shop for snacks. We were running low in that department at the house and I knew I needed some good snacks for park trips.

Anyway, Target has these ridiculously priced snack packs, but we were going to the park right afterwards and I thought “hey, why not?” and it was a good call! Dakota loved everything inside, which included some fruit snacks, crackers, sunflower seed spread, and these Lucy’s vegan & gluten free chocolate chip cookies. I was so happy that they were vegan and decided to make a short little post about just how freaking good they are!

The Basics:

No nuts, no dairy, vegan, gluten free. Seriously, if you have allergies, then these are the cookies for you.

The Pros:

I don’t know about you, but I really dislike really chewy cookies. These were perfectly crumbly and just melted in my mouth. I was in love the moment I took my first bite.

The Cons:

NONE! Honestly, I don’t really have anything bad to say. These cookies were so good. I don’t know if I can purchase them separately from the snack packs, but I would. I just haven’t bothered to look for them elsewhere except for Amazon. I may just purchase them from there.

Anyway, I think you get my point. These were some bomb cookies!

Lush Foot-Shaped Foot Scrub

Now that I’ve done a review on the bath bomb I bought for Dakota, I’m going to review this foot IMG_0860scrub that I bought for myself! It caught my eye because it was in the front of the store and I love things that are shaped and designed in such a cute way! Obviously, this foot scrub was made in the shape of a foot and I thought “how cute! I must buy!”

The Basics:

The official product name is Stepping Stone and it is a sea salt scrub specifically designed for your feet. It also helps to make your feet smell good with the infusion of lime and lemon oils! The price: $4.50.

The Pros:

IMG_0862When I first used it, I was skeptical that it would be a product I could use more than once. I ran the product under water and began to scrub away. It felt amazing! And in the end I found that even though I had used a lot of the scrub, there was still a lot more left and it still looks like a foot as you can see on the right! I notice that a lot of dead skin was stripped away, as well which left my feet feeling soft as ever.

The Cons:

Honestly, I haven’t found any cons to this product. I can probably get much more use out of it and because of that I feel it is worth the price. Possibly the only con is that it doesn’t have a significant smell. It doesn’t smell amazing. Instead, the smell is just simply okay. But other than that, I will definitely be purchasing this again!

Overall, this product exceeded my expectations. I definitely recommend purchasing this. $4.50 is a great price for something that you can get so much use out of!

Bath Bomb Fun for Kids! (By Lush Cosmetics)

Last night, my husband and I stopped into Lush for no particular reason, we just love their stuff!
IMG_0829We ended up making a few purchases including foot scrub, Sexy Peel bath soap, and this robot kid’s bath bomb. The label said that it contained chamomile, which supposedly will help your children calm down after a long day and get ready for bed. I saw that and thought, “I must try this on Dakota!”

The Basics:

The bath bomb was $3.95 and it’s called “Ickle Baby Bot.” It contains lavender, chamomile, and sandalwood, which apparently help to aid sleep.

The Pros:

First off, Dakota LOVED this bath bomb. As soon as we dunked it in the bath and it started to fizz, she found it extremely entertaining and it turned the water blue, which got her even more excited. Also, I loved the shape of this little guy. It’s super cute and definitely kid friendly, even if it does appear to be directed more towards boys, but it didn’t bother Dakota. She thought it was just as cute as I did.

The Cons:

IMG_0836$3.95 is pretty pricey for a one-time use. Yes, you can only use it once, which means that Dakota won’t be having a fun, fizzy bath every night! Honestly, that’s the only true con. The other slight con I found was that I don’t believe it held true to making her any more tired. She went to bed at the same time as usual even though we had a pretty long day. However, once she did fall asleep, she fell hard! So maybe it did work.. I’m just not sure, which is why I don’t really consider this a huge con.

Overall, I think buying this product was totally worth it and I will buy one again whenever I happen to go to Lush, which isn’t that often (maybe once a month). If you want to try one but don’t live near a Lush, you can purchase similar products on Amazon, such as this Space Girl bath bomb, which was another one I considered purchasing.

Quick, Healthy Dinner: Because Eating Healthy Should be Easy

I know how difficult it is to get yourself in the mindset to cook, especially after a long day working or being with your kids. This is why you need to give yourself a break and whip up something that takes under ten minutes to make, but still is healthy enough to keep your body energized and healthy!

Here’s a recipe for this vegan spinach garlicky/lemon pasta:
DSC_1340Ingredients:

1/3 Cup Spinach

1lb Cooked Noodles

1 Clove Garlic

Dash of Lemon Juice

Salt and Pepper to Taste

Instructions:

It should only take about ten minutes to make this (as long as it takes the noodles to cook)

Once the noodles are done cooking, add everything together and there you go! A healthy meal in ten minutes or less!

A Review on Le Creuset Stoneware: A Kitchen Must-Have

For Christmas, I received two baking dishes. One was the Le Creuset baking dish 7×5 and the second being the oval 1.3×6.6×4.5 baking dish. I decided that it was about time that I use them! I’ve never made anything with a baking dish before, so it took me a while to find a recipe using one that I thought I might like. If you want to see what recipe I used, click here. I was happy/proud of what the outcome was and I would highly recommend the purchase of these baking dishes! Here’s what you need to know about them:DSC_1322

The Pros:

Since I am giving these baking dishes a five star, there are many pros that I have found. First of all, the baking dishes are very easy to clean. All the grease and dark spots that were left over after baking wiped away like nothing. Also, the baking dishes are very durable and retain heat well. On top of that, the dishes are attractive. I would definitely not be embarrassed bringing one of these dishes to a party with my own home cooked meal inside!

The Cons:

The only cons that I have found is that the dishes are a bit pricey considering they aren’t very large and are best for cooking appetizers or a meal for two. However, I would say that the price is worth what you are getting. I guarantee that these dishes are going to last for a long time before I ever need to replace them. Besides, you have the option to choose larger sizes that may be better suited for your larger family.

Overall, I definitely recommend the purchase of one or two of these dishes, especially if you enjoy making meals using baking dishes regularly. They are going to last you a long time and they aren’t time-consuming to clean, leaving you with easy meals to make for dinner after a long day at work.

A Healthy Pesto Bake

For dinner tonight, I whipped up this quick healthy pesto bake. I used my new baking dish that I got for Christmas and it turned out perfectly. I’ve never cooked anything with a baking dish before. I didn’t know what I was missing out on! It bakes everything together so well. Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:

1 lb of pasta

2 cups cherry tomatoes

1/2 water

1/2 cheese (any kind, I used parmesan)

For the Pesto:

2 cups spinach

1 cup kale

3/4 cup pecans

1/4 parmesan

1/2 tsp salt

1 tbsp minced garlic

Dash of lemon juice (optional)

DSC_1322

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 400

Boil water for the pasta

While waiting for the water to boil, chop the tomatoes into halves

Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook according to package instructions

Blend all the pesto ingredients together

Toss the noodles with the tomatoes, pesto and water once it is done cooking and place in baking dish

Sprinkle with parmesan cheese

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes

I forgot to add the water in the baking dish so it turned out a little dry. I would suggest adding enough water for the pesto to turn a bit saucy. Other than that, the recipe was really good and I was pleased!

Be Colorful // Snack Happy

I don’t know if this is true for you, but if I don’t plan out healthy snacks for the day I tend to eat junk. I make sure that I have two snacks a day that are going to be full of good nutrients and make my plate look colorful.

Here’s my snack of the day that I shared with Dakota:DSC_1237This snack consists of sliced strawberries, bananas with chia seeds, and almond butter for dipping.

Snacks are so important for keeping your body energized throughout the day! Just some more advice from me to you :)

Happy snacking!

Make oatmeal according to packet directions

Add bananas on top
